Gavin Porteous, Gavin began motorcycle racing in 1971 and moved to sidecar racing in 1973. He has won 4 Australian championships, had 4 GP wins at Phillip Island, was presented the Australian Sports Award for sporting achievement in 2000 and was inducted into the MSA Hall of Fame in 2021. Following a bad crash at the IoM, Gavin managed to win another Australian sidecar title and then moved into racing HQ Holdens where he accumulated 17 podium finishes up to 2017.
Jim Scaysbrook. Jim became a copywriter for a top Sydney advertising agency while taking up road racing at International level on a Yamaha TZ500 and multiple Ducatis with success in the Isle of Man TT, Malaysia, Macau and Australia. Mike Hailwood and Jim Scaysbrook became close friends, this led in turn to Jim partnering the nine-time World champion on his return to top-level racing with a Ducati 750SS in the 1977 Castrol 6-Hour race. He then teamed with Mike on a second Ducati 900F1 in his legendary comeback ride in the 1978 Isle of Man TT, as well as the 1978 Castrol Six Hours and Adelaide Three Hours. After a long career in advertising, Jim has since concentrated on journalism, and has written more than a dozen motorcycle books covering the history of Australian motorcycle sport as well as editing numerous successful and popular magazine titles. Jim is currently heading up Australia’s longest running and leading historic, classic and retro motorcycle magazine, Old Bike Australasia.
Murray Johnson Murray has been racing since 1974 – his first race was on a Honda 750 four at Adelaide International Raceway. He moved onto TZ racing and became an A-grade racer in 1976, racing at Bathurst, Amaroo Park and Sandown on a Kawasaki 900, before retiring from racing around the time that his children - Dave and Donna – were born. He began his business of K&M Motorcycles in the early eighties and rediscovered the joys of racing in 1987, racing Historic racebikes. He continues racing to this day.
